Army ROTC Scholarships

Army ROTC scholarships pay full tuition and fees per semester to the university OR $6,000 as a room and board payment per semester that pays directly to the student. Regardless of which option is chosen, the scholarship also pays a $600 book stipend per semester. To confirm an ROTC scholarship a student must contract as a cadet with the ROTC program. A contracted Cadet earns a monthly stipend during the academic school year of $420 per month.

Army ROTC has numerous types of scholarships. To be eligible for a scholarship a Cadet must meet all contracting requirements plus have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and an ACT of 19 or higher.

High School Students

The ROTC National Scholarship Board gives out 1000 three year scholarships and 1000 four year scholarships. The board for each high school class opens in June after the junior year. The board sits three times (October, January, March) to select the winners of the scholarships. The board is highly competitive typically awarding scholarships to those with a 3.5 GPA and 25 ACT or better. Even if you are not selected on the board, your information is provided to all the ROTC units you selected. This puts you at the top of the contact list for those ROTC units and possibly an immediate chance to compete for some of the available campus based scholarships granted to that unit.

College Freshmen and Sophomores

For current college students the scholarships available are: a 2-4 year science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) scholarship; a 2-3 year campus based scholarship; or a 2-3 year Army National Guard or Army Reserve scholarship. All scholarships pay full tuition and fees OR room and board allowance of $5,000 per semester. Regardless of the selected payout the scholarship also includes a $600 book stipend per semester.

A Cadet must contract in order to receive scholarship benefits. Once a Cadet contracts with the program they start earning a monthly stipend of $420 for attending class. To be eligible to contract a Cadet must pass the with a score of 60 in each event, meet the pass a medical exam (paid for by ROTC), have a GPA of 2.0 or higher, and disclose and have waived any and all civil convictions. Only Cadets with a four year scholarship may contract their freshman year.
