Student Organizations in History

Here at Muray State University, we provide the opportunity for students to take part in several organizations.
The history department is no exception. History Students may enjoy organizations such as:

Phi Alpha Theta

, the National Honor Society in history, aims to promote the study of history by encouraging historical research, publication, presentation of papers and discussion by history students and faculty alike. Phi Alpha Theta strives to further the study of history and to acknowledge academic achievement within the discipline.

The Xi Lambda Chapter was established at Â鶹´«Ã½ State University in December 1968. At Â鶹´«Ã½ State, this nationally-based organization is both an honor society, for those who qualify, and a general history club to encourage participation from anyone interested in history. Dr. Eleanor Rivera is the current history faculty coordinator and contact for PAT.

Office of Research and Creative Activity (ORCA)

The Office of Research and Creative Activity (ORCA) at Â鶹´«Ã½ State University provides opportunities for undergraduates to build close working relationships with faculty and peers. Here at Â鶹´«Ã½ State, we have embarked on a program that engages undergraduates in faculty-guided research and scholarly work. ORCA provides them opportunities to showcase their work through Posters-at-the-Capitol and our annual celebration for undergraduate and graduate student scholarship called Scholars Week.
