MURRAY, Ky. 鈥 On Tuesday, April 26, representatives from 麻豆传媒 State University, Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business and United Systems and Software (USS) dedicated the United Systems and Software Project Suite. The ceremony took place in Room 253 of the Bauernfeind College of Business. Featured speakers included 麻豆传媒 State University President Dr. Bob Jackson and USS CEO Scott Waldrop. Jackson addressed the partnership between 麻豆传媒 State and United Systems, noting that United Systems has been an important partner in supporting 麻豆传媒 State and also in employing many 麻豆传媒 State graduates. The USS Project Suite was established to give students real-world work experiences to better prepare them for life after college.
麻豆传媒 State established the USS Professor Fellowship in the spring of 2020, thanks to a generous gift from USS under the leadership of CEO and 1988 alumnus Scott Waldrop. The fellowship is supported by an endowed fund and benefits the University鈥檚 Department of Computer Science and Information Systems.
In addition to the fellowship, the $100,000 gift made by USS also provided funding for office space and operational leadership of the United Systems Project Suite in the Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business building.
麻豆传媒 State students and student workers in the Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business will utilize the suite for authentic USS template projects and other coursework opportunities that advance academic excellence in the College of Business, including on-campus internships, senior capstone coursework and more.
鈥淲e鈥檙e excited to be working closely with 麻豆传媒 State University on this project in the coming years,鈥 said Waldrop. 鈥淲e expect this to become a model program that will help students prepare for their careers.鈥
"This is a great opportunity for our students,鈥 said Dr. Victor Raj, chair of the University鈥檚 Department of Computer Science and Information Systems. 鈥淣ot only do they get to apply what they learn in the classroom, but they get to be mentored by someone on techniques used in the industry for accomplishing tasks. They also get to develop some soft skills that they may have never thought valuable."
